The Jessie Hall Hemispherectomy Scholarship
The college and trade school scholarship program is to honor children who have faced so many challenges associated with hemispherectomy surgery and then gone on to do AMAZING things academically. The Jessie Hall Hemispherectomy Scholarship’s goal is to help offset the cost associated with pursuing a college degree or trade school diploma.
Cris and Kristi Hall of Aledo, Texas began this scholarship in 2008, to honor their daughter Jessie Hall. Jessie was 6 years old when she had a hemispherectomy performed by world renowned neurosurgeon, Dr. Benjamin Carson, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
In the spring of 2008, Cris and Kristi learned their precious daughter Jessie had Rasmussen’s Encephalitis and her only chance to have a life, free from seizures, was to have a hemispherectomy. Their family, friends and community held fundraisers to assist with medical bills. The Hall’s were so moved by the remarkable outpouring of support, they wanted to share this feeling with the hemispherectomy community. Because of their respect for education and the empowerment it provides, they chose to give the gift of a scholarship to other children who have had a hemispherectomy.
Every penny donated to this scholarship will be received by a child who has had a hemispherectomy. There are no overhead expenses for this scholarship, as all services have been generously donated. All donations are tax deductible.
